Here's a letter we received from Sandie Helm
from Harmony InSpires after the London Palladium Show
| I just want you to know what an absolutely fabulous day I had in London on
Sunday, along with a very new member of Harmony InSpires - Marj Hoek (all
of 3 weeks!). What a busy day, but what an experience.
After watching Cheshire Chords and Cotton Town Chorus in Covent Garden, we
went on to sing in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and then ended up at
Piccadilly Circus. We'd gathered momentum by then. I've never felt such a
buzz as I did then - about 50 of us singing to a very captive audience in
Piccadilly Circus. WOW.
And then to finish off with the most amazing show at the Palladium. It has
to go down in my memory as the very best of barbershop shows I have ever
been to. What was so special was each chorus and quartet were so
different in style but perfect in performance. It was a joy and honour to
watch. I could have stayed all evening.
Will you please pass on my thanks to all the organisers and performers for
their hard work and dedication for arranging such a wonderful show ('ve no
doubt there were a few frustrations along the way!) Those barbershoppers
who didn't go just don't know what they missed - 'The show of a
lifetime'. I'm sure all those who performed will cherish and remember that
night forever.
I remember one thing that Biggins said - " I was looking down for the 100
piece orchestra - and then realised there was none and that the music and
sound came from their voices" (something like that).
That sums Barbershop up in a nutshell!!
Well done everyone - and thanks again!
In Harmony for ever
Sandie Helm
